Christmas tree

The kids put the Christmas tree up this afternoon as they had a inset day again off of school. I don't normally put it up this early but I thought what the hell. It's been a bit of a miserable year what with the recession and all and seeing a sparkly tree with flashing lights really does brighten things up a bit.
I will probably be fed up with it as Christmas nears but thats another day lol.

George has gone

George Hamilton has walked out of I'm a Celebrity.............bugger! I wanted him to win lol. I havent watched this programme for the last few years but I am enjoying this years one. My guilty pleasure perhaps?

Debenhams are arseholes!

How can a huge major chain store get something so wrong? Let me elaborate. I went in to my local Debenhams last Thursday to buy a dress for a special occasion. Usually I would go to New Look and spend about £20 but they didn't have a cocktail style dress.
So, I went to Debenhams and found the perfect dress only they didnt have my size but said they could order it online and have it sent directly to my home. I really loved the dress so said that would be fine. They took the payment right there from my Visa card including delivery charges totalling £58.59. Thats a lot of money and I never spend that kind of  ammount on a dress, not tight, but not made of money either. So imagine my dismay on the following day to be told they had made a mistake and that they didnt have my size and would refund my Visa card imeadiately! Come today (Monday), no refund had gone into my bank so I phoned Debenhams and after waiting on the phone for 20 minutes, finally got through, only to be told the money hadn't been taken out of my account when I knew damn well that it had as I check my internet banking regularly. After several minutes of arguing the toss with her and me quoting my statutary rights at her, she told me 'to send my bank statement to them proving the money had gone out of my account'. I just bloody well lost it with her and slammed the phone down. I rang my bank and told them what happened and Lloyds clarified that the money had gone out of my bank and that they would imeadiately start a dispute claim for me and the nice man even told me that this is a frequent occurence when it comes to Debenhams. Ok, so I am going to have to wait a couple of weeks to get my money back but who the bloody hell do Debenhams think they are? Plus, mine is not an isolated case. Why does the little person in the street have to battle all the way for what is rightly for theirs? Needless to say Debenhams can go fuck themselves and jump off a cliff as far as I'm concerned. They won't be getting anymore of my money in a hurry unless it's paid by cash and then I would do my utmost to try and buy it somewhere else in the first place!
Rant over with lol.

Rain and Enid Blyton

Woke up to torrential rain and I didnt' want to get out of bed. It is so overcast and dark out. Still not cold though which is a good thing.

I went shopping at Tescos yesteray and ended up buying something I couldn't resist..........all three books of Enid Blytons Magic Faraway Tree collection. I loved these books as a child and constantly reread them. I am hoping my twins will love them too and of course, I will be reading them again too!

I got some good news this week regarding my Water Bill and Southern Water ( see this post http://amethystlady.blog.co.uk/2009/10/12/water-bill-7152421/). We had someone come out and check the water meter and our thoughts were confirmed, the meter number assigned to our house wasn't our meter! Good news indeed after facing a £76 water bill for just one month. Even the guy couldn't understand how the mixup has happened. Our meter isnt on our property it is up the road and round the corner..........what a weird setup lol. At least it's all sorted now.

Him Indoors went back to work this week after having three weeks off with a bad back...............so it's nice and peaceful now lol.

I got a lovely dining table and chairs secondhand for £56. It was an absolute bargain and the table is real wood too and been looked after ever so well. The chairs are a bit scruffy but nothing a gentle sanding can't fix.

The twins now have glasses for reading. Funny thing is they like wearing them where as most kids wouldnt at their age lol.

I hope everyone is having a lovely weekend and Happy Halloween to one and all!

CAN YOU IMAGINE? (For the Child in All of Us)

CAN YOU IMAGINE?
(For the Child in All of Us)

Can you imagine a world without witches,
A world with all people the same?
Where the only known dragons are hiding in books,
And children are terribly tame?

A world without magic would be sad indeed.
I cannot imagine the pain
Of having a world where there's no Santa Claus,
Where wizards are searched for in vain.

Can you imagine a world without spells,
That science and businesses run?
And think of the sadness a unicorn feels
When he no longer plays in the sun.

Can you imagine a world without witches,
No elves, and no magical pools?
And can you imagine how dull it would be
If all that we had were the schools?

I cannot imagine a world without witches,
A world with no magical wand.
A world without beauty, or even a dream,
Or a wood sprite of whom to be fond.

They say I should grow up and be more mature,
Like a normal adult ought to do.
But I'd rather, at night, go to dance with a witch,
And I'll bet that you feel that way, too.

Battle Star Galactica and stuff

Woke up to sunshine and no rain today!

Had a really bad nights sleep last night.

We went to bed early and watched a DVD for a change. It was Battle Star Galactica, series one, episodes 1-4 of the newer one. Never seen it before and a friend has lent us the complete box set including the mini series. I was a huge fan of the old series when it was first shown and I am a bit divided as to whether I like this one or not. It takes a bit of getting used to not seeing Lorne Greene and that also, Starbuck is now played by a woman. But, I am not going to judge it too much until I'v watched all three series and the mini series.

When it finished it was 3.45am, so I read for 20 minutes and then just couldnt get to sleep. It was 6.45 till my eyes finally sucumbed so hopefully I will sleep very well tonight!

I have nothing planed for today other than cooking the Sunday dinner and making a nice apple crumble lol.

Hope everyone else is having a nice weekend!

I won vouchers

Photobucket

Woke up to lots of rain again and a very heavy fog which is still here.

I had a very nice surprise this morning. I won £15 worth of shopping prizes on Pogo's daily drawing! I rarely ever win on anything. The email says it takes up to 60 days to receive them. Wonder what shops I will be able to use them in?

Yesterday I finally ordered the much needed drive belt for our hoover from Amazon. The belt went the day we moved in our new house and we have been using a broom and dustpan and brush ever since. Not good when you got pets lol. They dispatched them within an hour of me ordering them. Well impressed.

Rain

Woke up to rain, rain and more rain. It's dull and dreary out and I havent bothered getting dressed yet as its more snug to stay in my cosy dressing gown lol.
Last night I was so cold that I caved in and put the central heating on for a bit. The weather has definitely got a lot colder these last few days. Trouble is I woke with a sinus headache where I had the heating on last night.

Family Pictures

This afternoon I went and saw my grandkids. I don't get to see Destiny much where her mum and dad are not together. She walks now and looks so much like her dad when he was a baby!

My daughter Rebecca who was there too.

When we got home, I made a nice sweet and Sour chicken curtesy of a jar of Uncle Bens cook in sauce lol. Tasted quite nice actually.

This evening Im just vegging and catching up on blogs and emails. Hope everyone has had a nice day!

The Black Bra

The Black Bra

I had lunch with 2 of my unmarried friends.
One is engaged, one is a mistress, and I have been married for 20+ years.

We were chatting about our relationships and decided to amaze our men by greeting them at the door wearing a black bra, stiletto heels and a mask over our eyes. We agreed to meet in a few days to exchange notes. Here's how it all went.

My engaged friend:

The other night when my boyfriend came over he found me with a black leather bodice, tall stilettos and a mask. He saw me and said, 'You are the woman of my dreams. I love you.' Then we made passionate love all night long.

The mistress:

Me too! The other night I met my lover at his office and I was wearing a raincoat, under it only the black bra, heels and mask over my eyes. When I opened the raincoat he didn't say a word, but he started to tremble and we had wild sex all night.

Then I had to share my story:

When my husband came home I was wearing the black bra, black stockings, stilettos and a mask over my eyes. When he came in the door and saw me he said, 'What's for dinner, Batman?

Whenever I see houses being built, I long to be a kid again

Name something that makes you a kid again. Heres one of my memories and what triggers it lol

Seeing new houses on estates being built, reminds me of being a child again. Actually especially when I was around the age of 9/10, a huge housing estate was being constructed, and friends and I used to help the builders by being gofers for silly things and they used to let us ride on the huge trucks and even make tea in tin mugs for us. We used to run through the sewer pipes being layed underground and even climbing down the drains lol. Evening times we used to go and nick lots of nails for our dads thats used to be strewn all around the building site. Might sound ridiculous to people reading this but it was a very happy time. Off course couldnt be done in this day and age but things were so much different then back in the 70's. People tend to knock this era but I loved it, flares and music all lol!

Playing Catch Up

Things have been busy here as usual and I am so hoping that things get back to normal like now lol.

Sarah is moving into her new flat on Thursday and I am hoping my son Ben moves in too! Well, he is 25 and it is time that he buggered off left my apron strings, as much as I love him. He is not stupid and knows where he is better off lol.

I really do need to blog more. I love blogging and reading others blogs but just havent been do this. I have had my knew camera for a few weeks now and not really used it. I wanted to post lots of piccys here but forget to take it out with me most of the time. I have now put it in my handbag lol.

Yesterday I went into town and bought an under the basin pedal stool caddy for the bathroom sink as storage was rather lacking and also one of them shower corner unit things. That one seems a bit of waste of time as you move something on there and everything falls off or is it the way Him Indoors installed it? lol
I also stocked up on some Yankee Candles. I just love them and they are one of the best on the market if not the best. My living room always smells lovely now lol.

I am hoping to see my grand daughter Destiny later as I havent seen her really since I moved. Good excuse to use the camera and take lots of pictures lol.

Flowers, wine and chocolate

I was very lucky today to receive this lovely bouquet of flowers, wine and chocolate from Sarah's dad, to say thank you for looking after Sarah in her hour of need. They really are very beautiful.

Sarah went to the funeral yesterday and she was very brave. Things are looking more positive for her as she has a new flat to move into. The landlord is in there decorating it so her and Ben should be able to move in within the next couple of weeks or so. It will be great for her and her two little children. Sarah has asked me to be her surrogate mum even if she splits up with Ben. She has no other female relative in her life other than her younger sister. I have six children already so what's one more? lol

Water Bill

It's been a quiet peaceful weekend here.

I rung Southern Water with regards to the very high water bill. The man on the phone said it should only be about £26 and not £76. Anyway he directed Him Indoors to the water meter as our row of houses meters, all sit together under the public footpath. He gave Him Indoors the meter number and told me to turn a tap on, which I did. Guess what? The meter that clicked, wasnt the meter that was ours! Turns out that it could be that the water authority may have incorrectly assigned the wrong meter number. So techinically someone else has got my bill and I have theirs. I have a feeling we may have the house thats on the end as thy have five children. The house next doors bill is £40 and they have three children. So, looks like whoever was getting the cheap bills all this time prior to us moving in, faces a huge bill. Its taken a weight off my mind as I have been worrying about it all weekend. In the meantime, he said to pay £26 a month so we didnt get a huge bill when the next one was due which is fair enough.

Him Indoors back is still bad and he goes back to work on Wednesday, if he is able to.

Saturday 10 October 2009

This and that

I've done it again and not kept up with my blogging lol.

Well things are gradually returning to normalacy. Sarahs mums funeral should be on Tuesday if the coroner releases the body on time. She is bearing up extremely well under the circumstances. A very brave young lady.

Got my first water bill for the new property. £76 for one month. I am on a water meter and not sure if this is good or bad. My water usuage is £24 and the rest is drainage and all these other charges like water run off etc. Hmmm, will work out dearer than not being on a meter me thinks. I thought it was supposed to be cheaper but they seem to be hitting us with all these other charges? Don't get me wrong but just thought the bill was dear for one month maybe?

The weather has been dreadful this last week but woke up to some sunshine today and promptly got loads of washing put out on the line.

I hope everyone is having a nice weekend!

Cadbury are Arseholes

Yes Cadburys are Arseholes. Why you ask? Because they have shrunk their chocolate bars yet they are charging the same price. My son bought me a Twirl bar and it is a lot smaller, by a good quarter. Their excuse for this is that the beans they use are so expensive. I'd rather pay a bit more than be deprived of my chocolate.

BTW, Cadburys do lie remember. A couple of years ago people were complaining that their creme eggs had shrunk and Cadburys denied it by saying 'You've got bigger thats why they look smaller'. Turns out their bluff was called when somebody found a couple they had forgotten about in their freezer, which were bigger than the new smaller ones! ( A video of this can be found on U-Tube BTW)

A nice Sunday

Sunday was my ex husbands (Ivan) birthday so we all went to the Hollington Oak pub. The weather was glorious yet again so it was perfect for all the kids in the beer garden. We got there before him and put a nice chocolate birthday cake behind the bar and then surprised him with it after we had dinner there. We sang 'Happy Birthday' to him much to his embaressment and the delight of the pub regulars lol.

I bought a new digital camera as ours was naff. It was on offer in Tescos and I thought it was a bargain at £70 and its 12 mega pixels and has auto scene recognition as well. Cant wait to get out and about it and see how well it takes piccys.

Today has been a bit ugh, if you know what I mean. Skies overcast but no rain. I have found it very hard to get motivated, although I did do the obligatory bleaching of the kitchen lol and the grocery shopping at Tescos!

Day spent fishing

We thought it would be good to give Sarah and Ben some time on their own together so we took the twins fishing with my sister Sharron and her partner Dave. We went fishing on the River Rother at Wittersham which was really really nice. It was the twins first time at fishing and Ashley caught the biggest fish of the day. It was a Rud lol.

For some reason the sheep really liked Him Indoors and kept invading his fishing spot to come down to the water to drink lol. We had a really lovely day and the weather was just like a hot August day. My feet were melting in my wellies lol.
It was nice to get out of the house as I havent really been anywhere since we moved house. I was so proud of my boys as they took to fishing as a duck does to water and they want to know when they can go again lol.

Plodding along and suicide

I'm still plodding along but life is a pile of pooh right now for my oldest son who lives with me and his girlfriend as her mother comited suicide yesterday and it wasnt in a nice manner. She left a suicide note then some how deliberately crashed her car into a field and the car was filled with some kind of accelerant. It burnt up over half the field as well her apparently. Gawd, what a thing to put your kids through! Sarah, Bens girlfriend, is staying with me now. Guess I am a mother figure to her right now.

So my time is limited, so I have temperarily deactived my Facebook to stop me wasting time on there lol.

Hope everyone is good and is looking forward to the weekend!

Tuesday 22 September 2009

What to do today?

Up nice and early. House work all done and the washing hung out on the line. The sun is shining and not much wind, which is nice.
Now, what to do with the rest of the day? Play on Pogo? Play World of Warcraft? lol

Monday 21 September 2009

Weekend Round Up

Had a nice lazy day in yesterday. I sat reading whilst the twins played on their games console. I cooked a nice roast followed by rhubard crumble.

Him Indoors topped up both of our World of Warcraft accounts so I played that for a while in the evening after The X Factor had finished lol. Haven't played it in a few months.

We are worried about one of our dogs, Lupi. He has over the course of the last few weeks, gone rather thin. His appetite is normal and he is up to date with his worm/flea/tick stuff that he has. He is getting on a bit. Also his fur is fine and not gone funny so we have no idea as to why, other than maybe old age. Him Indoors says he is going to give him a few weeks and if he looks to be getting thinner, then he will take him to the vets. He sleeps most of the time too.

I also need to finish the unpacking. We still have all the ornaments etc to put somewhere. Would help if Him Indoors got the shelves up lol. Also need to sort all my cross stitching out as most of that is still boxed up!

The weather looks better today as we had rain yesterday. The sun is poking it's head out periodically!

Interesting day

Colin and I went to Eastbourne to do a bit of shopping at Pets at Home and Argus Extra with the intention of Colin doing the buying. It wasn't till we got to Eastbourne that he realised he had left his wallet at home! What a plonker lol. So I had to do the buying and he bought the shopping in Tescos once we got back. The pet store were selling really nice dog beds at half price and Lindita and Lupi needed new ones so we got them one each.

19092009118

The dogs with their new beds, excuse the quality as I took it on my mobile phone.

We then went to Argus Extra and Colin decided we needed a big bookcase so we bought one. Then I had the pleasure of watching him trying to fit the flatpacked bookcase into our dear little Citreon Saxo. Put it this way, I couldnt see out of my window very well by the time he had finished! He even tried sticking it out of the sunroof which was a big no no, the silly sod. We got it back safely and now its been put together and standing in my living room with a full load of books. Makes the room look more homely now.

Back online

Thank gawd I finally have my broadband connected, curtesy of Aohell AOL lol. I was having major withdrawel symptoms too! I have internet on my phone but I'm nearly blind as a bat and trying to do email and things on my mobile was just a pain in the backside.

The house move went pratically smoothly and we are settled in now apart from some ornaments, nicknacks and books that need unpacking, but that can be done leisurely.

The new house is a wake up call for our two dogs as our neighbours all have dogs too and mine arent used to it. One neighbour has three Yorkies and they look so comical lol.My Lindita likes to wind them up lol.

I will blog again later as I have to go out soon. Thank you for all being patient with me and I have missed my blogging and not being able to read and comment on others! Will be playing catch up laters.

I hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Tenantcy handed in

Just handed in my tenantcy for the house I am in. It officially ends on the 13th of September. As I left the house it was raining but that real fine stuff. Got half way down my road and the heavens opened up! Needless to say I got very wet and as soon as I walked back into the house the sun came out and we now have partial blue skies!
I am running about like a headless chicken as I don't know where to start on the house first or what to do! But I do know I need to get to Argus and buy some packing boxes.........bloody ridiculous price for them though, but what can you do when you need them?
Hope everyone is having a nice day!

Monday 24 August 2009

Soooo excited!

Me and my first catch ever lol.

Well as some of you may know, last month we bid on a house. I got shortlisted and because so much time went by, I thought we didn't get the house. Wellllllllllllllllllllllll, we got it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The lady rang me about 4pm today and was talking to me about this house and I said 'what you on about love?' and she said 'Oh, don't you know? We allocated the house to you.'. To cut a long story short, she went on holiday two weeks ago and her admin staff should of rung me to let me know about the house and didnt. So, Wednesday I go and sign the tenancy and Monday, the house is ours! Talk about short bloody notice to pack everything and get it moved lol! But I am just sooooooooooooooooooo happy!

On a different note, we went fishing for a couple of hours this evening. It was my first time ever. I have to say I really enjoyed it. Out of the four of us, I was the first one to catch a fish. It was only a tiddler, in fact, I only caught tiddlers, but who cares, I enjoyed it . I handled the maggots ok in the end. I just went for it and plunged my hand in the tub lol.

I will definitely be going again. I found it so tranquil and relaxing. The fish is a Roach. I had two fall into my cleavage, the slippery little buggers lol.

Sunday 23 August 2009

Quiet Sunday

Had a quiet evening with the twins and Him Indoors. We watched 'Little Man' DVD starring the Wayans Bros, very funny. Instead of popcorn we had two tubs of Ben and Jerrys between us seeing its half price at the moment lol.

I just brought my Rod Licence online and need to go into town in the morning to get my local fishing club licence, and then hopefully my first fishing trip tomorrow evening for a few hours.

Weekend and Fishing

It's been a really nice weekend. Yesterday we went into town for the day and did some shopping and in the evening we went to our friends, Kieron and Nessie's BBQ. The weather was glorious and the food excellent, especially the Chicken Green Tai burgers that Kieron made! And Nessie's veggie sausage rolls were really tasty too!

My sister and her partner Dave, are keen coarse anglers and have talked us into going with them. Him Indoors used to fish years ago and the thought of going again appeals to him. So, he had some back pay that he got and so we went and bought rods etc yesterday. I'm not sure wether I will take to fishing.........just the thought of maggots, let alone handling the little buggers, makes me feel yucky lol. I'm glad its coarse fishing as you just throw the fish back and dont kill them or anything. Yes, I know there are debates that hooks are painful to fish and its a divided debate as some say they are painful and some say they are not. We have bought stuff that is more humane and recommended by the Angling Association. I am looking foward to it and going to the fishing area thats by a Nature Reserve in Rye. Oh, and wouldn't it be just fabulous if I caught a bigger fish than Him Indoors the first time I went lol. I will be taking the camera with me just incase lol!

We love the NHS

Hmm, read this article on The Mail Online:

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-1206264/Browns-Tweet-nothings-NHS.html?ITO=1490

I just think it's a bloody cheek that certain American elements see fit to run down our NHS. Rather rich coming from a country who put profits before health. The only reason they are knocking Obama's reforms is because if it goes ahead, they wont be able to cash in so much on the sick and make such huge profits!

Quote from the Daily Mail:

The Government is loath to intervene directly in the US debate but constant attacks on the NHS, together with inaccurate claims about rationing, have prompted unease.

The British Embassy in Washington is trying to counter inaccuracies amid a string of television adverts claiming that the NHS puts an "Orwellian" financial cap on the value of life and allows the elderly to die untreated.

Gordon Brown should get some huge big dangly balls for once and intervene in the US debate to stop these great big bully boys once and for all. But he won't because we all know he would rather arse lick than do the right thing!

Sunday 9 August 2009

Peaceful Sunday

Been a nice peaceful Sunday. I spent this afternoon finishing off my first Hardanger piece. The cutting was easier than I thought lol.

Hardanger

I didnt fancy a traditional roast today so I put some chicken pieces in a dish, threw on some sliced onions, red peppers and tomatoes, put lots of crushed garlic all over and some herbs and olive oil and served it with new potatoes and mixed veggies. It was really tasty and the twins loved it too.

Not sure what i am going to do for the rest of the evening. Probably watch some tv.
Hope everyone had a nice weekend!

MIA again lol

I am fully recovered now from my operation and I didnt realise just how long ago it was since I last blogged.............naughty me lol.
Things have been really hectic what with two family reunions and us trying to move home. We rent from a housing association and we have recently bidded on a property. I got a letter to say that the bid was successful so I now have to wait and see whether we actually got the house or not. I'm not holding my breath but you just never know. We are downsizing from a three bedroomed to a 2 bedroomed property, so I have been spending hours trying to get rid of stuff we dont want or need. I have come to the conclusion that we are hoarders. We took over 30 carrier bags of clothes to the Tesco Supermarket recycling bins for Scope. I am having to be so ruthless. I said to Him Indoors, if something hasnt been used within a year, then it has to go..............easier said then done I can asure you! Hopefully we will hear something over the following week.

Wednesday 29 July 2009

Good times

Ok, I need to tell you something before I carry on..............just between me and you dear reader................I'm drunk as a skunk...............pissed as a fart...................had one to many, etc etc etc, blah blah b;lah.
Just got back from a family reunion, getogether lol thingy, which was bloody nice I have to say. I would share nice piccys biut I am too drunk to get them off the phone so ou will have to wait until I'm sober. Only drank a few pints of bitter, cant stand pissy lager., gives me wind lol. More so since me gall bladder was nicked from me inards, I just have to bend and I belch lol. I am blessed with such a large and diverse family, the bloody nutters................been drinking since 1pm and got in around 11pm, dont happen often.
I love me family so much, not afraid too say it and lifes way too short not to say it, get my drift? I got bloody sunburnt again too even though it rained too, go figure my sweeties.
Hope everyone in blogland is sweet to, nighty night peeps.

Monday 13 July 2009

Bad night

Couldnt sleep last night. Got up at 3am to check my email then went back to bed again. Finally fell asleep at 9am. Woke up at 1.30pm. Now my sleeping pattern is going to be way out of kilter. It's been a while since I had insomnia.

Whoops

My slippers were dirty so I put them in the washing machine....................they fell apart lol, and they weren't very old. Have to get Him Indoors to buy me some new ones when he gets paid

Sunday 12 July 2009

Hurtful

It is so very sad that when online friends who you thought were your friend turn out to be not your friend, how hurtful is that?

Just needed to get that off my chest and no explainations will be given as none needed.

DVD Night

My pride and Prejudice DVD turned up today. Will have to wait till Monday to start watching it when Him Indoors is at work and the sprogs at school...........I want to watch it in peace lol.

Saturday night is DVD night, so we all huddled together and watched Moonraker followed by King Arthur the directors cut. I love that film, very well acted. The popcorn never lasts long with the twins, Him Indoors and Ben eating it lol.

Hope everyone is having a nice weekend!

Saturday 11 July 2009

An evening out

Him Indoors and I have just got back from my sisters. She lives across the road from me. We ordered in a Chinese meal and had some wine, just a very small half a glass for me, as the dinner made my tummy a bit gippy. Nothing wrong with the meal, just too much richness so soon after the operation I think. My sister Sharron, made a lovely chocolate and strawberry french tart, made with 80% pure chocolate.........but the pain afterwards was well worth it, especially as she made it for us.
My sister and I have been estranged for years, but we are both making an effort to get to know each other and things seem to be going in the right direction. We have even agreed to go fishing with her and her partner Dave who is a very keen angler. Him Indoors wants to get back into it and I have never fished. I will give it a go as long as the fish don't get hurt and Sharron assures me that they use fish friendly kit whatever that is lol! She has a lovely boxer dog called Jayjay, who is gay, I kid you not. He only likes boy dogs and is the biggest softy ever lol.
Thats it for now. Hope everyone has a nice weekend!

Oh, Mr Darcy!

Oh, I am trembling at the knees with excitement and anticipation. On Amazon, I found The BBC adaptation of Pride and Prejudice with Colin Firth, at just under £8 instead of £20. I have never seen any version and only read the book this year, but I do know this..............I really like Colin Firth, I really like Pride and Prejudice, a fabulous combination in my books!

Our area was flooded

Pictures and story curtesy of Hastings Observer online

(I live just around the corner and luckily on a hill!)

Date: 07 July 2009 By Richard Morris

After weeks of scorching sun the heavens finally opened this morning - flooding parts of Hastings and leaving cars in St Leonards submerged in pools of water. Storms hit 1066 Country at just after 1am this morning and have not let up since. Blackman Avenue was one of a host of roads closed off by the time locals left for work, with fire crews battling to clear water which had flooded at the end near Battle Road. In fact, as our exclusive pictures show, parts of Hollington were left as much as five foot underwater, with cars wrecked, gardens ruined, homes flooded and bins bobbing on the water. Elsewhere, parents were told St Paul's School had been forced to close after it was a struck by lightning, causing the electrics to short circuit. And, students on their way to Filsham Valley School were diverted across the South Saxons Wetlands in order to get to lessons because of severe flooding which left the entire school field under water. Emergency services said they were inundated with calls. Mark O'Brien, of the local fire service, said: "We were called out two hours ago because of flooding in Blackman Avenue and Hollington Old Lane. "We have received a number of calls about flooding across town with properties and road affected. "In Hollington Old Lane there has been severe flooding due to the rainfall last night. A number of residents are staying in their properties and are cut off by flood water. "They are in no immediate danger and are being asked to go to the upper part of their homes where it is safe. "Water has not entered the houses and we are working hard to make sure it does not. "There is forecast to be further rain today." He said nine homes in Hollington Old Lane had been affected and two in Blackman Avenue, adding: "The flood water is running towards Stonehouse Drive where around 20 properties have been affected." He said the area had flooded because a storm drain had not been able to cope with the high level of rainfall, adding: "We have got emergency equipment and teams on standby to rescue residents in case the water level rises."

Bored

We all wish for more time to ourselves at some point or another. Right now I have so much time to myself that I am bored senseless with it. I will be so glad when I can move around normally without my stomach hurting or feeling like it's dropping out.
I've been online playing hours and hours of World of Warcraft, doing mostly instances lol. Played on Pogo, sent pictures via email from my phone, just because I can , oh and surfing through BCUK lol. The bit of paper the hospital sent me home with says '4 to 6 weeks recovery'. Help! That means I am going to go around the bend and possibly lose me marbles . I'm going to give it a few days and try to clean the kitchen surfaces with some bleach lol. Oh and I am going to get very adventurous today and bung a chicken in the oven

On the road to recovery

Last Tuesday, I had my gallbladder removed. I'm doing well, just very sore. I'm very bored though as it is so hard just sitting or laying around lol. I was so bored yesterday that I signed up for Club Pogo lol. Also been playing lots of World of Warcraft online lol.
Sod's law that we have been having a heatwave while I've been stuck inside.............mind you, not a bad thing I guess as I dont want to get burnt.
Oh yeah, been Twittering and on Facebook a lot, also learnt how to make the most out of my Nokia E71, including how to upload piccys straight from my mobile to Nokia Ovi and Twitpic etc.................I feel like a darn geek now lol.

Pre Op jitters

Woohoo, I'm having my gallbladder operation tomorrow as there has been a cancellation. Just come back from the hospital and had the blood tests etc all done. Feel very nervous but glad at the same time

A trip to Kew

Friday night we went up to Him Indoors parents for the weekend who live in Dunstable. On the Saturday we went to Kew Botanical Gardens. The weather was absolutely fabulous, needless to say I got sunburnt but without beeing too sore. The huge glass houses were unbelievably hot, especially the palm house, in which I kept darting under the spray mists every time they turned it on, just to cool down. I really enjoyed it there as I had never been before.

048

Him Indoors took this of me by the huge lavender rows they have. I really like this picture but...............................

053

Not so much this one. Can you see the panic on my face? Thats because I am a few hundred feet in the air on a treetop walkway. I'm not frightened of heights as such but I didnt like this one as you could see everything below under your feet and the thing moved............I had to go around it though as it was one way traffic, boy did I move quick lol. Plus the lift was not working so we had to climb a lot of stairs. I damn near run down them though lol.

All in all we had a lovely weekend!

Stressed out

Yesterday I had a good day. Went to fatty club and lost the 1.5 lbs that I had put on last week. I then went into town and did some shopping and had lunch in The Rainbow. I then dyed a friends hair and then Him Indoors took the boys and I out for dinner. I went out at 9.15am and didnt get back in till 9.15 pm, so I was very knackered.

Today, is not so good. I feel like I have too much upon my shoulders. I know moving is a stressful business, but at the moment I am having trouble with coping with everything on my own. I just want to curl up in a little ball somehwere and go to sleep for several days! But I know I can't because all the stress will still be there where everything still needs to be done. Too much has gone wrong lately and I am not seeing a light at the end of the tunnel!
Im supposed to be going away next weekend, but to be honest, right now I don't think I can face going..........to me, it's just another lot of stress I could do without right now!

Why?

Why is it that when I have time to sit at the computer and blog, that I have nothing to blog about! Seems like sod's law to me because when I have lots to blog about, I don't always have the time to blog it lol

Router

My router has been playing up the last few days to the point I lost my internet connection yesterday. I felt really lost not being able to sit at my PC and do the things I would normally do. Thankfully Him Indoors managed to sort the problem out and touch wood, it seems ok so far.

Playing 'tourist' in Hastings :-)

Him Indoors, the twins and I, had a lovely day out yesterday. We went to the The Blue Reef aquarium which our friend was managing so we didnt have to pay to get in. Also Keiron gave us a guided tour as well. We had a drink in their cafe afterwards, and he then phoned through to The Smugglers Caves, and we didnt have to pay for that either. How cool was that of Keiron!

The Smugglers Caves are on the west hill on a cliff, so we took the clift lift up. It was built in Victorian times. The photo is a view from the lift going up. Up the top, you can just see the other lift.

The twins and I on the beach.

We really did have a lovely day. I didnt feel like cooking, so we rounded the day up at The Rainbow.

Him indoors ex wife is still recovering, so later on last night, we went down to hers and I cooked dinner for her seeing as she is still having trouble moving.

Popcorn on fire lol

The last few days have been very hectic what with one thing or another. Friday I went to the fatty club to learn that I have put ON 1.5 lbs. I know where I was going wrong, portion sizes crept up, ate too much chocolate and didn't journal what I ate. Hopefully, I am back on track now.
Him Indoors ex wife Kim, has been in hospital for an operation on her back. She doesn't really have anyone to help or care for her so we have been back and forth from the hospital and feeding her cats for her. Yesterday we took her home and hopefully she will recover quickly from her operation.
Last night we sat and watched two films with the twins, Hellboy 2 and Ironman which we all enjoyed. I bought some of that microwave popcorn which we have never had before. The first pack I put in the micro caught fire hehehe . Well, it said two to three minutes on the packet, so I put it in for three lol. My gawd does burnt popcorn stink to high heaven. Yes I had had a few drinkies but I knew what I was doing lol

Bleach addict

I decided to do some 'spring' cleaning around the house today. I am having one of those days where I need to keep busy lol.

1. Done the whites washing.
2. Done the washing up that couldnt be put in the dishwasher.
3. Put the washing up away.
4. Emptied the dishwasher.
5. Put dirty things into the dishwasher
6. Clean and bleached all the kitchen surfaces down.
7. Hoovered the front room.
8. Completely cleaned the toilet out, including bleaching all surfaces, woodwork, the window, the bin, the weighing scales.
9. Hoovered the toilet floor.
10. Washed hallway down.
11. Cleaned the dogs eating area including the water bowl.
12. Washed the hall floor.
13. Washed the kitchen floor.
14. Cleaned the hoover down.
15. Washed the kitchen sink.
16. Hung out/up the washing.

I am a bit worried about # 14, that I cleaned and bleached down the hoover, makes me one sad puppy lol. I love the smell of bleach, crazy I know. It's cheap and does just as good a job as other cleaners, if not better lol. (OMG, what do I sound like lol).
I'm going now, I think the bleach is calling me to clean the bathroom now

Interesting day

Today my mum passed away 10 years ago. It seems to have gone so quick. I went with my ex husband, who was like a son to her, to meet my sister and her partner dave and my stepdad Michael, at her grave. It was poignant as these moments tend to be. We then went for a drink afterwards. It was nice to spend some time with my family. Michael is even on facebook now, so I expect he will keep an eye on us all now .

While we were at the cemetry, Him Indoors cooked the Sunday roast, which was pretty good I have to say.

In the evening we went down to see my friend Kim, which was nice as I don't get to see her often. She is having an operation on her back on Tuesday, so I hope all goes well for her and I shall be there for her if she needs me.

I did have a few drinkies on Saturday night but didnt blog as I was tipsy. I slum'd it and had a big bottle of Lambrini. Tastes nice but I paid for it today with a massive headache, due to it being cheap stuff and all the sulphur they put in it. I must sound like a drink a lot to those who regularly read my blog, but honestly, I don't. Just mainly on a Saturday night
