A trip down memory lane
Last night I had a weird dream and when I woke up it prompted some childhood memories that I had forgotten about. My parents and I lived with my dads mum. In the kitchen I remember we had a large old ceramic sink with a woodern draining board. Also in the kitchen we had an old copper boiler. It was a big metal thing, I guess an early washing machine. Essentially you filled it up with water, lit the gas through a hole in the bottom (nan always used rolled up newspaper to light it lol) and waited for the water to heat up. I guess in todays terms it was slightly bigger than a spin dryer but round and it was cream coloured. When the water was hot enough, nan used to wash the clothes in it with a wash board. Then when that part was done she used to fit a mangle on top and wring the clothes out. She did this right up until the lates seventies, then the council modernised the house. I had forgotten about it all these years.........funny what memories a dream can trigger!

Weekend update
We basically lost our phone and internet connection over the weekend. We'd get online and it would yoyo on and off all the time. The phone was unusable due to a static kind of noise. We rang BT yesterday and they fixed the problem today. Turned out to be the box that comes into the house. It had gone rusty and condensation had got into it. So kudo'd to BT for a speedy solution.

Back to the Fatty Club
I went back to the fatty club today after a couple of months of not going. Needless to say I had put a lot of weight back on. I bloody well know think it all went on over Christmas and had something to do with 3 boxes of Thorntons chocolates, a tin of Roses, a tin of Quality Street and some other festive fayre lol. Now, if putting weight back on isn't bad enough, Weight Watchers, in their infinite wisdom, has dumped the previous plans and come out with their new Discovery Plan. I liked it before when I didnt have to point anything and weigh anything, but now I got to do that. But I guess it's worth it to look like a goddess slim and healthy in the summer months

Not a lot to say
Not a lot to say tonight apart from I got my appointment through for my scan on my abdomen for next Thursday. It came through quicker than I thought it would.
We went shopping tonight and I popped into Pets at Home and bought another Habitrail add on for the big hamster. I think him indoors thinks I spoil the hamster more than I do him lol.Wednesday, 7 January 2009
No wonder I'm so cold!
And I am really feeling it. It's too cold to get dressed so I am sitting here in two lots of night cloths, being a long nightie with pJ bottoms, dressing gown and a wolly scarf around my neck. I can't afford to run the heating for long so we put it on in the evenings when it's at it's coldest. I can't even stitch where my hands get too cold. The up side is snuggling under a duvet on the couch with a hot chocolate and reading hehehe.

Ebooks and the library service
I love my e-reader! I found out that in parts of the USA and other countries, ebooks are available via download from librarys and have a set time to read it like you would if you were to take out a traditional book. Soooooo feeling rather left out and a huge library reader, I wrote to my local library who passed on the email to a head honcho. This is what they said.
Hello Mrs Smith,
East Sussex is investigating the possibility of introducing e books. We are in partnership with 37 other authorities as part of the Central Buying Consortium and are due to see a presentation from one of the providers in the early part of this year.
An officer has been tasked to look at the technical aspects of providing a service.
As soon as there is any development there will be an update on the web pages.
Thank you very much for your interest, it seems that e books are about to become a practical option and offer more choice to readers.

I really do hope they offer e books the near future. I would be quite willing to pay a small fee for the service too seeing how you have to pay the same price as a paper book on Waterstones for them.............err you think they would of taken note of how the music business nearly messed up by charging the same price for a download as what a CD cost. They dropped the price in the end.

A relaxing day.
Gawd, it's really been cold today! We went to the Rainbow restaurant for dinner today and my ears nearly dropped off from the cold. They very nearly needed defrosting by the time we parked the car and had walked along the seafront to the restaurant hehehe.
This morning, him indoors took down the Crimbo decorations and the tree. It looks really bare in my living room now even to the point of being echoey even though it is not a big room.
Even with the heating on I was feeling the cold so I snuggled up under a duvet and finished reading my first ebook this evening, which was 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne. I am really impressed with the reader and have already started my next ebook.

First post of 2009
We celebrated the new year in quietly, just me, the twins and him indoors. At about 5 to 12, him indoors got us both a glass of wine each. We stayed up till 4am and didn't get up today till lunch time lol .
Today I cooked a nice pork roast and had it with all the trimmings washing it down with a glass or two of Hock and a Baileys. Again, it's been another laid back day
